As a major exporter, we want to comply with international rigorous export controls and sanction regulations. Within this context, your mission in this role is to act as the subject matter expert in this area, with day-to-day responsibility for ensuring that PC meets its export control and sanctions obligations.

Thus you ensure that the relevant framework as defined by Corporate Export Control Directives, PSRA and Legal is in place and working effectively. You also take part in day-to-day operations by ensuring that controlled products are recognized, screening upcoming shipments, applying for licenses and training relevant business colleagues.

Export Control Officer NL

The role and its responsibilities
You will work from either our large site in Sassenheim, or the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. From here you execute, manage and improve export control compliance for PC’s Strategic Market Units (SMUs) as part of the PC export control team, liaising with SMU Management e.g. the Directors and the Commercial Support and Logistics & Warehouse managers.

Thus you perform Risk Assessment, report risks to the PC Global Trade Control Manager and SMU Management, and ensure appropriate actions are taken. You also ensure that trade control rules are available to designated individuals and ensure that they have completed the relevant training.

In terms of Classification you ensure that all products and technologies are identified and classified and you maintain a classification registry. You also ensure that licenses are in place in accordance with laws and regulations, and that licenses and related correspondence are documented and maintained. At all times you stay abreast of relevant trade control laws and regulations.

You ensure that Marketing and Sales communications are in line with export control requirements, and that contracts and/or terms & conditions are in place with suitable export control provisions and end use statements.

Further, you ensure the screening application is in place and functioning effectively, particularly with regard to sanctions and embargoes, and you ensure that records relating to export of controlled products are kept in accordance with regulations and internal rules.

It is important that you support and guide areas of the business such as Supply Chain, Sales, RD&I Projects and Technology, and when necessary you cover the absence of another Export Control Officer in other regions.
Needless to say, any irregularities are immediately reported to the PC Global Trade Control Manager.

Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess the following attributes:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Global Trade Compliance or a related field;
  • At least three years of relevant experience;
  • Knowledge of relevant EU and US export control regulations;
  • Business and solution oriented mindset, able to think ‘beyond the protocol’ to solve problems;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, able to work accurately and independently;
  • A high level of written and spoken English.
